Dr Charlotte Harkness, DProf, BSc Hons, Dip Couns., Cert. Couns., UKCP Reg., UPCA Reg., SEA member, BEAT registered eating disorders practitioner
Charlotte is a person-centred and existential psychotherapist, counsellor, coach and writer, with 15 years experience of providing therapy. She provides a pragmatic, sensitive and down to earth approach to facing and exploring mental and emotional distress from a philosophical perspective.
Charlotte trained as a person-centred practitioner before completing a doctorate in existential psychotherapy awarded jointly by Middlesex University and the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling, where she also now provides supervision to students on the doctoral training programmes. Charlotte has a particular interest in working with people in the creative arts, media and image-sensitive, high-pressured environments, people struggling with anxiety and depression, disordered eating, weight and body image issues, grief and loss and relationship complexities. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, Charlotte worked as a business analyst and editor and is a classically trained violinist and singer, so she has an excellent understanding of work and career complexities and making major life changes, as well as living and working creatively with performance anxiety. As well as being part of Therapy Harley Street, Charlotte works in private practice in East Anglia and via Skype. Charlotte is Vice-Patron of St. Michael’s Hospice, Basingstoke. As a UKCP registered psychotherapist, Charlotte abides by their ethical codes, policies and procedures.
