Cigdem Tas

Cigdem tasCigdem is a psychologist, graduated from Istanbul University in 2001. Her postgraduate studies include Diploma in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling, Proffessional Certificate in Supervision, Leadership and Group Facilitation. She did her postgraduate studies in NSPC ( New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling) validated by The North Middlesex University.

Cigdem’s therapeutic approach is to develop a good therapeutic alliance in which the client feels safe, empowered, ready to explore and resolve their difficulties and ensuring that sessions are personally tailored to address their needs.

Cigdem is a full registered accredited member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and follows their code of ethics.

She has 15 years of experience working with individuals (face-to-face, online and telephone) groups (short and long term, psycho-educational groups and workshops).

Cigdem’s experience in the field includes Mental Health Services Co-ordination at Derman in Hackney where she also provided supervision to trainee counsellors and facilitated professional development groups. Her particular academic and professional interests are gambling and medically unexplained symptoms.

In NHS, voluntary sector and private practice she worked with wide range of presenting issues such as trauma, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), psychosis, borderline personality, OCD, seperation, loss, breavement, depression, anxiety,domestic violance, obstacles, work and family related conflicts, relationship problems,psycho-somatisation, Gambling and affected others.

Continuing professional development include Advance Existential Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and CBT ( Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). expanded her skills in CBT for psychosis, The Meriden Family Programme, Three of Life, ACT (Acceptence and Compassion Therapy), Mindfullness, Participatory Theratre for researchers and practitioners working with migrants and refugees.

In adddition to her private practice at Maya Centre and N19, she also recieves referrals from BUPA and CareCall Professional Services. She lives in London with her daughter.
