SUMMARY:EXISTENTIAL DIALOGUE between Prof E. Spinelli and Bárbara Godoy
DESCRIPTION:Series of discussions\, dialogues and conversations between Prof Ernesto Spinelli and International existential therapists. \nEXISTENTIAL DIALOGUE between Prof E. Spinelli and Bárbara Godoy. Topic: “Brainstorming the Basis of an Existential Laboratory”. Book here > \n\n“Existential therapy is a wide-ranging arena\, with many perspectives and different views that also\, fundamentally\, share an attitude expressing a way of thinking and being with people. Representatives of the existential approach from different parts of the world have agreed to engage in an open-format discussion with me. Each of them will bring their own particular topic of interest as the focus for the discussion. From these\, participants will hopefully see that existential therapy and existential thought in general cover a huge range of topics\, view points and perspectives and explores these in a way that it is different\, stimulating and enjoyable.” Prof Ernesto Spinelli \nBrainstorming the Basis of an Existential Laboratory\n“What is the most conducive environment to train Existential Therapists? There is an obvious gap between our emphasis on the importance of experience and the courses on offer. Training courses are confined\, defined and defeated by government regulations\, biased statutory prejudices and the inhibition of trainers whose theoretical preparation has seldom be matched with an adequate systematic and committed practice. We have to ask ourselves what level of “Existential fitness” might be required to practice this radical art? There is no lack of methodologies for such a task only a shortage of courageous education.” Bárbara Godoy \nAbout Prof Ernesto Spinelli\n“An internationally-recognised leader in existential therapy and coaching psychology\, Professor Ernesto Spinelli developed and taught the first psychology undergraduate and PhD programmes to focus on counselling and psychotherapy research. He has contributed to a growing interest in\, and professional appreciation of\, existential therapeutic techniques.\nProfessor Spinelli publications and textbooks are standard reading for many psychotherapies and coaching training programmes around the world. His book\, Practising Existential Therapy: The Relational World\, 2nd edition (2015)\, was identified as the most influential contemporary text on existential therapeutic practice.” BPS \nAbout Bårbara Godoy\nBárbara Godoy M.A.\, Adv. SUMMARY:ADVANCED AFFECT-BASED SUPERVISION GROUP with Dr Manu Bazzano
DESCRIPTION:“Supervision is not ‘management’ but open exploration. It is a soulful endeavour. At the heart of group supervision is the crucial notion of affect\, the modification or variation produced in a body/mind by the interaction with other bodies/minds. Affects carry important information\, and it is through being affected\, that therapists and supervisors can begin to unfasten the artificial separateness of client-therapist-supervisor. That’s when the client’s experience may be more genuinely accessed. Through experiential processing of clinical material and discussion\, we will explore some innovative ideas from affect theory and beyond that may enliven and enrich participants’ practice. My way of working is suitable for therapists of all orientations” Dr Manu Bazzano. \nDr Manu Bazzano is an author\, psychotherapist/supervisor in private practice and an internationally recognised lecturer and facilitator. SUMMARY:UNLOCKING OUR-SELVES with Bárbara Godoy
DESCRIPTION:Experiential Group and Process Work\n A playground for therapists to nurture the imagination\, release inhibitions and mobilise therapeutic insights\n \n“Supportive\, thought-provoking\, emancipating\, grounding” \nThis year’s programme is inspired by Nietzsche’s Three Metamorphoses of the Spirit (from Thus Spoke Zarathustra). A process of reflections on Self Overcoming through Self Re-Creation that can make All of LIFE more powerful. \nFor Nietzsche life “births” itself and the human spirit can become the fruit that carries the seed of a sweeter future. The spirit must go through three stages to be free. The first stage is the Camel who wishes to fulfil the already existing values but eventually realises that not all things should be preserved and some burdens are too much to bear. So the Camel becomes the Lion who stands against tradition and the old assumptions conquering its own territory. However\, like the Camel\, the Lion is a reaction to definitions handed down by others\, the spirit is still dependent. Finally\, the Lion becomes the Child who is a self-propelling wheel\, a new beginning\, an afresh perspective\,\na sacred “Yes!” to life and its possibilities. \nFridays 12.30 pm to 1.45 pm – Online\nFee: £300 \nDates:\n13\, 20 and 27 May\n3\, 10\, 17 and 24  June\n1\, 8 and 15 July \nBOOK YOUR PLACE > \nBárbara Godoy M.A.\, Adv. SUMMARY:EXISTENTIAL DIALOGUE between Prof E. Spinelli and Dr Michael Montgomery
DESCRIPTION:Series of discussions\, dialogues and conversations between Prof Ernesto Spinelli and International existential therapists. \nEXISTENTIAL DIALOGUE between Prof E. Spinelli and Michael Montgomery. Topic: “Reconciling the Past”. Book here > \n\n  \nAbout this event\n“Existential therapy is a wide ranging arena\, with many perspectives and different views that also\, fundamentally\, share an attitude expressing a way of thinking and being with people. Over the years existential–phenomenological thinking has had an ever-increasing influence on my practice\, even over more psychoanalytic ways of working. However\, when working with clients I cannot ignore the past. Contemporary psychoanalytic thinking still holds much value for me in making sense of the impact of trauma. In society we appear to be experiencing the tragic and unfolding consequences of not adequately addressing past injustices and inequality. Given the profusion of research on the impact of past trauma on the present\, where is existential thinking today in terms of reconciling the past?” Michael Montgomery \nAbout Prof Ernesto Spinelli\n“An internationally-recognised leader in existential therapy and coaching psychology\, Professor Ernesto Spinelli developed and taught the first psychology undergraduate and PhD programmes to focus on counselling and psychotherapy research. Montgomery is an international psychotherapist\, clinical psychiatric social worker\, published researcher\, and regular contributor to the Society for Existential Analysis through their publications and annual conference. He has lived\, worked\, and researched in the UK\, Malaysia\, Germany and now in America. He is widely experienced within a spectrum of demanding psychosocial settings. Originally from Belfast\, Northern ireland his work and message is very much informed by his experiences\, past and present\, of growing up during a violent armed conflict. He specialises in complex trauma and conflict resolution. His doctoral research generated a contemporary theory of the clinician’s use of silence.\n(This Dialogue is part of “Existential Dialogues”. Book here > \n\n  \nAbout this event\n“Existential therapy is a wide ranging arena\, with many perspectives and different views that also\, fundamentally\, share an attitude expressing a way of thinking and being with people. I think nobody in the therapy is in charge of this process. The process invites us to follow it and we accompany somebody through that. But I don’t think many therapists do this at the moment\, Lately\, therapy is engineering and the hope is that existential tradition can offer something different.” Dr Todd Dubose \nAbout Prof Ernesto Spinelli\n“An internationally-recognised leader in existential therapy and coaching psychology\, Professor Ernesto Spinelli developed and taught the first psychology undergraduate and PhD programmes to focus on counselling and psychotherapy research. He has contributed to a growing interest in\, and professional appreciation of\, existential therapeutic techniques.\nProfessor Spinelli publications and textbooks are standard reading for many psychotherapies and coaching training programmes around the world. His book\, Practising Existential Therapy: The Relational World\, 2nd edition (2015)\, was identified as the most influential contemporary text on existential therapeutic practice.” BPS \nAbout Dr. Todd Dubose\nDr Todd DuBose is a world renowned\, Distinguished Full Professor at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology\, where for the past 15 years he has taught philosophical foundations and practices of human science psychology and has been the coordinator for the existential-hermeneutical-phenomenological orientation for therapeutic care. He is also a licensed psychologist in private practice\, was a former chaplain at the famed Bellevue Hospital in New York City\, and has 33 years of experience in therapeutic care\, supervision\, teaching\, consulting\, advising and scholarship. He holds degrees in continental and comparative philosophy of religion and existential-hermeneutical-phenomenological human science clinical psychology and integrates these approaches in caring for experiences of the impossible (no way out\, boundary or limit situations)\, and extreme experiences (such as psychosis\, nihilism\, suicidal and homicidal ideation\, violence\, traumatic loss\, existential crises of meaning\, and paranormal or anomalous experiences). As a public scholar and engaged practitioner\, his advocacy work critiques how implicit biases and ideologies embedded in taken-for-granted standards of care can harm others in the name of care. SUMMARY:EXISTENTIAL DIALOGUE between Prof E. Spinelli and Dr Katerina Zymnis
DESCRIPTION:Series of discussions\, dialogues and conversations between Prof Ernesto Spinelli and International existential therapists. \nEXISTENTIAL DIALOGUE between Prof E. Spinelli and Dr Katerina Zymnis. Topic: “Diving into the co-created world of the psychotherapeutic encounter”. Book here > \n\nAbout this event\n“Existential therapy is a wide ranging arena\, with many perspectives and different views that also\, fundamentally\, share an attitude expressing a way of thinking and being with people. Representatives of the existential approach from different parts of the world have agreed to engage in an open-format discussion with me. Each of them will bring their own particular topic of interest as the focus for the discussion. From these\, participants will hopefully see that existential therapy and existential thought in general cover a huge range of topics\, view points and perspectives and explores these in a way that it is different\, stimulating and enjoyable.” Prof Ernesto Spinelli \nDiving into the co-created world of the psychotherapeutic encounter\n“A recent study has explored the presence of helping factors that take place in psychotherapy from the client’s perspective. More precisely\, it explores client individual changes and therapeutic interventions from the client’s point of view. It examined 10 semi-structured interviews held with clients that had completed successfully psychotherapy based on various approaches. Findings underscore the importance of the co-construction of a therapeutic world of new possibilities and different choices for the client\, the co-creation of a safe and trustworthy environment\, the human integrity\, the professional and accepting stance of the therapist\, the client’s intentionality for change and hard work\, and a solid therapist and client working alliance as necessary conditions for successful psychotherapy. In this existential dialogue there will be an opportunity to reflect on the factors that develop within this co-created psychotherapeutic world and discuss the challenges that both therapist and client face in the process.” Dr Katerina Zymnis \nAbout Prof Ernesto Spinelli \n“An internationally-recognised leader in existential therapy and coaching psychology\, Professor Ernesto Spinelli developed and taught the first psychology undergraduate and PhD programmes to focus on counselling and psychotherapy research. He has contributed to a growing interest in\, and professional appreciation of\, existential therapeutic techniques.\nProfessor Spinelli publications and textbooks are standard reading for many psychotherapies and coaching training programmes around the world. His book\, Practising Existential Therapy: The Relational World\, 2nd edition (2015)\, was identified as the most influential contemporary text on existential therapeutic practice.” BPS \nAbout Dr Katerina Zymnis Georgalos \nKaterina Zymnis Georgalos is a founding member\, co-director\, trainer and supervisor at the Hellenic Association for Existential Psychology\, gignesthai. SUMMARY:ADVANCED EXISTENTIAL SUPERVISION GROUP with Prof Ernesto Spinelli
DESCRIPTION:These Master Workshops provide the opportunity to ‘look again’ at our practice and re-view assumptions and expectations regarding being a therapist. “Group supervision sessions seek to provide participants with a safe\, yet challenging\, space\, to consider and address the issues that arise for them when discussing their own\, or another participant’s\, experience of being a therapist. They provide the opportunity to ‘look again’ at their practice and re-view their assumptions and expectations regarding being a therapist and doing therapy. Group supervision can be a valuable and enriching experience for all participants since even though the focus may be on a particular supervisee’s account\, it is likely that all participants will discover broader issues and concerns that resonate with their own encounters with clients.” Prof. Ernesto Spinelli Prof. Ernesto Spinelli has gained an international reputation as one of the leading contemporary trainers and theorists of existential therapy and\, more recently\, the related areas of coaching\, facilitation and conflict mediation. SUMMARY:ADVANCED PHENOMENOLOGICAL SUPERVISION with Prof Robert Romanyshyn
DESCRIPTION:Our supervision groups draw upon the ways in which existential-phenomenology and depth psychology supplement each other and deepen our practice of psychotherapy. \nDescription:\nThese six Master Workshops explore some of the basic questions about being a psychotherapist and the practice of psychotherapy. Before psychotherapy is a profession it is a vocation and one of the primary issues for a psychotherapist is to deepen on a continuous basis one’s understanding of what has called one into this life of being a wounded healer. Beyond the necessary skills one has to learn and master\, a psychotherapist has to cultivate the difficult art of learning how to listen in such a way that opens a dialogue not only between patient and therapist\, but also with the other in oneself.\nIn this regard\, group supervision is a fundamental part of a therapist’s continuing education in the art of dialogue. A group setting is an opportunity to pause and step back to hear how colleagues practice this difficult art of listening with the third ear. In addition\, a group setting fosters a sense of community for this art\, whose roots tap into the sense of the sacred character of encounter and the ways in which silence plays a key role in dialogue. \nDates and Time: Saturdays from 2pm to 5pm (UK time) \n22 May\, 26 June\, 11 Sept 23 Oct\, 13 Nov & 11 Dec 2021\nFee: £756 the whole year (£140 per session) \nVenue: Online \nProf. Robert Romanyshyn was the first non-analyst to be elected as an Affiliate Member of The Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts based upon his scholarly contributions to Jungian psychology. SUMMARY:ADVANCED EXISTENTIAL SUPERVISION GROUP with Prof. Ernesto Spinelli
DESCRIPTION:These Master Workshops provide the opportunity to ‘look again’ at our practice and re-view assumptions and expectations regarding being a therapist. \n“Group supervision sessions seek to provide participants with a safe\, yet challenging\, space\, to consider and address the issues that arise for them when discussing their own\, or another participant’s\, experience of being a therapist. Ernesto Spinelli \nProf. Ernesto Spinelli has gained an international reputation as one of the leading contemporary trainers and theorists of existential therapy and\, more recently\, the related areas of coaching\, facilitation and conflict mediation.
