Counselling can help individuals to come to terms with situations and overcome painful feelings which may seem overwhelming at times. Together we can try to identify the root cause of issues which may trigger intense feelings and be the cause of anxiety, depression and at times suicidal feelings. I am a therapist with over 15 years experience working with individuals who are experiencing grief, depression, stress, anxiety, helping people to come to terms with their feelings and at times working on developing skills to help cope with future issues.

Qualifying as therapist in 2002 and I returned to study at the University of Surrey in 2004 gaining BSc.Hons in Psychology. I have since studied eating disorders, obesity and nutritional interventions at the National Centre of Eating Disorders.

I work with clients who suffer from conditions such as depression, anxiety, stress, trauma and anger which can lead to eating disorders such a anorexia bulimia or over eating. Experienced in addiction therapy that focusses on alcohol, drugs including prescription drugs or behavioural problems such as gambling and OCD. These conditions may have started in childhood as a result of attachment issues or abuse or by a more recent event such as a bereavement or a traumatic life event. Life can often be difficult and I work with my clients to find ways to accept and overcome issues by talking through problems to gain insight into behaviour – which can help you to become more resilient and manage life better.

Enhancing self knowledge helps clients to identify and recognise long standing habits that trigger specific behaviours, I therefore offer psycho-education which introduces a better understanding of what is happening to your physical and mental wellbeing and teaches skills to better manage situations and relationships which can often help to lower levels of stress and anger.

With the use of Food Diaries we can highlight whether essential nutrients may be missing from the diet which can effect mood in particular depression and anger. I therefore may ask clients to keep a food diary to record eating habits to establish whether their diet is affecting behaviour.

I gained experience working mainly in the private sector at the Priory Hospital in Roehampton, London and the Kusnacht Practice in Switzerland. I worked for the NHS funded Sam Beare Palliative Care Unit in Weybridge working with the bereaved and a charity based organisation “Welcare” Basingstoke for lone parents and individuals affected by domestic abuse. I have also worked with clients who have been affected by adoption, attachment issues, relationship difficulties, traumatic events, criminality and victims of crime as well working on the RAPt programme addressing criminal activity and drug addiction at HMP Send.

I am a registered member of the BACP, a graduate member of the BPS and the FDAP. I receive regular professional supervision. She abides by the Codes and Ethics of the BACP.

I work with adults and adolescents.
