Tom Cotton

Tom Cotton

Business and organisation consulting

Tom specialises in working in depth with individuals and teams to help them discover what influences the way they see and act in the world, and how this impacts their capacity to realise their full potential.

Areas where this is particularly helpful:
• Leading effectively
• Realising transition
• Working with difference
• Enhancing innovation

Approach to coaching and consulting
Tom creates a warm, trusting working structure with clients, within which openness and challenge can be fostered. This enables work at depth, where intuition, imagination, and emotional intelligence can be harnessed to work in support of intellectual and operational objectives.

How individuals and teams can benefit from this work
• Discovering the confidence to lead and facilitate change.
• Seeing both challenges and opportunities with greater clarity and learning how to engage with them more productively.
• Greater awareness of organisational dynamics and how they can be worked with more effectively.
• Engaging with inner creative processes that can lead to innovation.

Background
Tom has built an international coaching and consultancy practice working across a range of sectors, including banking, insurance, film and television, and healthcare. His work draws on his experience in both clinical and organisational psychology, managing complex teams, and ten years of creative practice as a writer and director in the film industry, during which time commissions included Working Title Films, Burberry and Universal Records.

Tom is co-founder of Narrative Dynamics, a leadership consultancy and is an Associate Member of Heresy Consulting. Alongside his coaching and consultancy work, Tom practices as a psychotherapist. He is a registered member of UKCP, and an Associate Member of Therapy Harley Street and The Northwest London Psychotherapy Centre.

Before training as an executive coach with Tavistock Consulting (accredited to EMCC senior practitioner level), Tom gained MSc and PsychD degrees in Psychotherapy and Counselling from Roehampton University. He also holds a BA (Hons) in Film and Video from Central Saint Martins School of Art. Practical arrangements

Typically, coaching takes place over 6 two-hour sessions, either in Tom’s practice (Belsize Park, NW3 and Harley Street, W1), or in a coachee’s place of work. Tom can be commissioned by an employer/sponsor, or directly by clients.
