Personal development groups for practitioners with Bárbara Godoy

A playground for therapists to nurture the imagination,
release inhibitions and mobilise therapeutic insights

“Supportive, thought-provoking, emancipating, grounding”

This year, we will explore Dreams as Existential Messages with Bárbara Godoy in collaboration with Dr. Betty Cannon.

“Rather than interpreting, we’ll let the dream speak for itself by role-playing its “characters”—people, animals, objects, even the dreamer. Freud called dreams the “royal road to the unconscious.” Sartre also saw mystery here, but described it as a “mystery in broad daylight”—the mystery of being human. The gap is not between consciousness and the unconscious but between what we live and what we can reflectively grasp and capture in words.

Dreams invite us to loosen rigid self-images. They remind us that we are always more than who or what we think we are. They may appear puzzling or unsettling, not because they are disguised of the unconscious, but because they are acts of pure imagination. Like works of art, they speak in images and symbols. Together, we will create a community of dreams—an extraordinary, shared experierience” – Dr. Betty Cannon

Year Programme

Winter Term: The Dreamer as Orpheus
Orpheus is portrayed as a dreamer who believes that a song can change the world — that art, beauty, and love can overcome fear and oppression. He holds to an almost impossible vision, and that makes him fragile, yet luminous.

Spring Term: On Eurydice and longing
Eurydice embodies the hunger for survival in a world of scarcity, while Orpheus embodies the hunger for beauty and meaning. Their love story becomes a dialogue between pragmatism and idealism, survival and vision.

Autumn Term: On the tragic turning back
We will come to terms with the impossibility of certainty in love and vision — Orpheus’s backward glance is not just a mistake, but the condition of being human: to doubt, to falter, even in the midst of hope.
