Dr Wafaa Eltantawy MBChB, DRCOG, M.A. Relationship Therapy, PGDip Psychosexual Medicine, FFSRH.
Dr Wafaa is a qualified Psychosexual Therapist, Relationship Counsellor and Gynaecologist licensed by the GMC. She is a a professional member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT), the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) and the Middle East Society of Sexual Medicine (MESSM).
She has been leading the Psychosexual Clinic at her NHS trust for the past 10 years, consulting with clients (individuals and couples) from diverse backgrounds with a variety of problems in their sexual and general relationships.
She integrates clinical experience with evidence-based approaches in the field of psychosexual medicine and therapy to help clients achieve their goals and a satisfying sexual relationship.
As a medical doctor and gynaecologist, she is able to clinically examine and treat associated medical problems that may be contributing to sexual problems. Often, unlocking the key to relationship success can be as simple as addressing neglected medical needs.
She is an expert in vaginismus (difficulty in penetration), dyspareunia (painful sex), and offers treatment of the following problems:
- Relationship and communcation problems
- Erection difficulties
- Ejaculation concerns
- Orgasm problems
- Loss of sexual desire
- Sex anxiety, including non-consummation
Personal Bio:
Dr Wafaa is a warm, light-hearted and passionate gynaecologist, counsellor and therapist. She is an expert in psychosexual & relationship therapy, whilst also being a GMC licensed medical doctor with extensive clinical experience in sexual medicine.
Warmth and abundance of empathy define her signature consulting style. Indeed, many of her clients come to see her as not only a deeply knowledgeable and skilled therapist, but also a trusted friend.
She developed her tireless work ethic at Mansoura University Medical School in Egypt (graduating in 1982) and developed her career in the NHS, acting as lead for one of London’s busiest psychosexual clinics. She has also provided relationship therapy with Relate over the past 6 years.
Over the years, Dr Wafaa has cultivated a deep commitment to best practice in both therapy and medicine.
As a bilingual English and Arabic speaker, she can provide a culturally sensitive, confidential and complete service in both languages.
Now based in Hertfordshire, she enjoys travelling and being a mother and wife.
