Project Description
Jordan Sommers (MBACP), Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor
Qualifications:
I am a BACP registered integrative psychotherapist and counsellor. I remain actively involved in specialised clinical training and keep abreast of the most recent peer-reviewed research and advancements.
What I Offer:
I am dedicated to creating a warm, collaborative space where you can explore yourself with curiosity, compassion, and care. My training is integrative, and my approach is holistic which means I draw from a variety of resources to tailor my support to your unique story – how you are now, where you’ve been, and what truly matters to you.
Together, we can gently uncover what lies beneath the surface: emotions, patterns, and past experiences that may be shaping your present. Through this process you have the potential to discover new perspectives, deepen your self-awareness, feel more aligned with your values, and strengthen your connection to yourself and others – essential foundations for healing and meaningful change.
How I Work:
Therapy is both an art and a science — rooted in lived experience and shaped by the relational space we create together. My approach is integrative and relational, drawing from a range of modalities to meet your unique needs. At its core, I see therapy as a secure, nurturing space where you can explore your internal world with compassion, curiosity, and depth.
I work phenomenologically, meaning I am interested in how you experience your life as it unfolds — moment by moment, in the here and now. This includes tuning into your thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and relational patterns, and holding space for both the conscious and unconscious aspects of your experience.
Alongside psychodynamic, humanistic, and existential modalities, I integrate methods from Gestalt therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Gestalt invites us into present-moment awareness, helping us notice how we relate to ourselves and the world around us. IFS provides a powerful framework for working with the different “parts” of ourselves — whether protective, wounded, or wise — so that we can develop greater internal harmony and self-compassion. Through these approaches, we can explore how fragmented or conflicted parts of your experience may be keeping you stuck and invite gentle integration and healing.
Who I Work With:
I work with adults (18 and over) offering both short and long-term therapy for individuals and organisations.
Additional Background:
I worked for over twenty-five years in the entertainment industry where storytelling – rich with conflict, transformation, and resolution—mirrors the personal journeys we undertake in therapy. This experience sharpened my insight into the unconscious drives and shadow aspects that shape behaviour. It also enhanced my sensitivity to emotional expression and non-verbal cues, helping me listen deeply beyond words.
