Project Description

Ailís Clarke, Accredited Psychotherapist, Executive Coach, Psychologist and Mediator.

Many people come to me when their lives become dominated by the “what ifs.” What if I fail? What if I can’t cope? What if I embarrass myself? What if I never succeed? What if I’m not lovable?

Life can be tough. But what if you could deal with whatever it throws at you? What if you knew exactly who you wanted to be and how to get there? What if you could learn to commit fully to the daily choices of your life without worrying about others? What if, in 10 years’ time, you look back at the story you wrote and it has become an achievement?

I believe that opportunity exists for all of us.

Everything begins with responsibility, mindset, and environment.

  • The responsibilities we step into and deal with.
  • The mindsets we cultivate to remain positive and focused under pressure.
  • The work and social environments we create and commit to.

“Consider who you are. Above all, a human being, carrying no greater power than your own reasoned choice, which oversees all other things and is free from any other master.” — Epictetus, Discourses, 2.10.1

Ailís focuses on four areas: anxiety and stress, infidelity, and life transitions.

Anxiety and Stress

Anxiety and stress can affect us in many ways. Work performance stress, imposter syndrome, sleeplessness, and panic attacks are all common when we find ourselves in environments where we bend out of shape to fit in. A combination of occupational psychology, transactional analysis, cognitive behavioural therapy, and coaching can help reframe stress into manageable challenges that we feel ready to face. This creates space for deeper psychotherapeutic work, addressing the underlying anxiety and bringing resilience and joy back into our lives.

Infidelity

Infidelity can be a devastating experience for all parties involved. Exploring the relationship as it was, understanding the root causes of the breakdown, and determining whether trust can be re-established to create a new relationship are central to this work. Your roadmap to a new life, together or apart, will involve several approaches: cognitive and behavioural psychology, intergenerational behavioural work (which looks at patterns of behaviour learned in childhood), integrative counselling, and practical action plans for new behaviours. These sessions allow you to explore your situation in depth, understand your reaction to it, and make decisions with greater clarity. Sessions are primarily individual, with mediated partner sessions when required.

Life Transitions

Life’s transitions can be smoother when they are prepared for rather than neglected. Retirement should be a reward, not a sentence; redundancy can be a release rather than a crisis; grief and loss can become a process of meaning rather than simply a trial. Together we look at how you have lived in the past and why, what you need in order to thrive now and in the future, and how to create a life plan focused on happiness and fulfilment.

Several diagnostic tools, from MBTI (psychological preferences) to FIRO-B (emotional needs), may be used to build a profile of how your life has developed so far. Humanistic counselling can then be integrated to analyse your priorities, and finally we develop a roadmap toward a fulfilling and happy future.
